Perfect pitch is a skill that can be developed but it’s going to take time with the right exercises and practice techniques. There are some common mistakes that people trying to develop perfect pitch make that can cause their efforts to almost backfire on them. Avoid these mistakes when trying to learn perfect pitch.

Mistake 1: Learning pitch on an out of tune instrument

If you are going to use your piano, for example, as a frame of reference for your pitch, you need to make sure that the piano is in tune. If you don’t, you will be training your mind incorrectly. Let a professional come and tune your piano for you.
